Frequently Asked Questions

Member Questions and concerns

How long will it take for my child to level up?

The time it takes for a child to progress varies. Each child develops at their own pace, and progression depends on their current level. You can ask for your child to be evaluated during their lesson at any time. Our front desk staff can provide you information on what your swimmer needs to do to reach the next level.

How long will it take for my child to be swimming and/or be safe in the water?

This varies for each child. Consistent practice and attendance are key factors in achieving swimming proficiency and water safety.

What is the youngest age a child can be enrolled at Swim to Shore?

Children can be enrolled as young as 6 months old through adulthood.

At what age do parents not have to get in the water with their child?

Parents are not required to be in the water with their child after the age of 3. Upon turning 3, we will schedule a trial to evaluate if the child is ready and safe to participate without a parent.

Do I always get the same coach?

Your swimmer might have different coaches from time to time. Sometimes our swim instructors will need time off. At Swim to Shore Swim School, all staff are trained and certified in-house, ensuring consistent teaching according to our Swim to Shore Swim School curriculum with weekly focus cards. This ensures continuous progress for your swimmer.

Can I request a specific coach?

We cannot guarantee specific coaches as it depends on availability and the coach’s schedule. However, all our coaches are highly trained and exceptional.

Why is my child doing the same thing repeatedly?

Swimming requires repetition. Practicing the same drills repeatedly helps swimmers master their skills.

Why is my child in the same class as a swimmer of a different age?

We group swimmers based on skill level, not age. All swimmers in a class have similar skill levels. If you wish to change classes, we can assist you.

What if I do not want to get in the water with my child in the parent and baby lessons?

If you are unable to get in the water with your child, another adult or guardian is allowed to get in for you. We cannot guarantee that one of our coaches will be available to accompany your child in our parent and baby lessons.

My child is potty trained. Can they swim without a diaper?

If your child has not had an accident in the past 6 months, they may swim without a diaper. However, there is a $300 fee if an accident occurs and they are not double diapered.

Is it normal for my child to cry or be nervous during swim lessons?

Yes, this is very common! A new environment, new teachers, and being in the water can all feel overwhelming at first. Many children experience tears or hesitation during their first few lessons. With patience and consistency, most children quickly adjust and begin to enjoy their time in the pool.

My child is 2 years and 6 months old and very comfortable in the water. Can they trial for Level 1?

Your swimmer has to be at least 3 years old in order to attend our group lessons without the parent. This policy is meant to keep all of our swimmers safe and all lessons running smoothly.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes, we offer a 5% active military discount with valid ID.

If I need to take a break from swimming, can I pause my account since it is non-refundable?

Yes. We totally understand that life gets busy! If you need to stop swim lessons, please submit a request at least 30 days in advance through your iClassPro account (either the app or the online portal).

Please note: We’re only able to process drop requests through iClassPro, we can’t accept them in person, over the phone, or by email.

Once your drop request is submitted and approved, your child’s last class will be 30 days from that date. We’ll make sure your next month’s tuition is prorated based on your final class date.

Example: If you submit your drop request on April 18, your last class will be May 18. When May tuition is processed, you’ll only be charged for the classes from May 1–18.

Once you are ready to resume class, just give us a call, stop by your location, or go online to re-enroll. It's that easy!

What do I do if I miss a class?

Life happens, and we get it! That’s why we’re giving you up to 12 makeup tokens per year to keep your child’s swim progress on track.

You must mark your child absent at least 24 hours in advance to receive a makeup token through the iClassPro customer portal or phone app.

For more information, please reference the policy section within the iClassPro customer portal.
